8.1  直接目的語に名詞をとる動詞

8.1  直接目的語に名詞をとる動詞

8.1.1　　 第３文型でtoをとる動詞

① tell Ａ Ｂ※　　ＡにＢを伝える

I'll tell you the truth.　私はあなたに真実を話しましょう。

I can‘t tell you how pleased I am.　どんなに喜んでいるか言葉では表せません。

A little exercise will do you good.　少し運動すると体によいでしょう。

Too much work did him harm.　仕事のやり過ぎで彼は体を害した。

 

⑨ owe Ａ Ｂ 　ＢはＡのおかげだ

I owe him my success.　私の成功は彼のおかげだ。

 

⑩ promise Ａ Ｂ※ 　ＡにＢを約束する

He promised his son a car.　彼は息子に車をやると約束した。

 

⑪ recommend Ａ Ｂ※ 　ＡにＢ薦める　推薦する

They recommended me the bookstore.　彼らは私にその本屋を薦めた。

　　　They allotted him an easy task.  彼らは彼に、簡単な仕事を割り当てた。

 

⑭　　assign Ａ Ｂ 　（財産・権利などを）ＡにＢを譲渡する、割り当てる

　　　 I will assign you my house.  あなたに私の家を譲渡しよう。

　　　　He assigned the tour members their hotel rooms.  

彼はツアー参加者にホテルの部屋をあてがった。

     

 

⑮　　hand Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢを手渡す、回す

　　　He handed/passed me the ticket at the entrance.  彼は切符を入り口で渡した。

 

⑯　　promise Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢを約束する

She promised me a reward.  彼女は私に例をすると約束した。

 

8.1.2　　 第３文型でforをとる動詞

① buy Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢを買ってあげる

I‘ll buy you lunch.　お昼をごちそうしよう。

 

② make Ａ Ｂ※ 　ＡにＢを作ってやる

She made her husband a cup of coffee.　彼女は亭主にコーヒーを１杯入れてやった。

 

③ get Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢをとってやる

I’ll get you a pillow shortly.　すぐに枕を持ってきてあげよう。

 

④ charge Ａ Ｂ※ 　ＡにＢを請求する

They charged me twelve dollars for the broken window.　

窓の破損料を１２ドル請求された。

 

⑤ win Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢを勝ち取らせる

His courage won him fame.　彼の勇気が彼を有名にした。

 

⑥ spare Ａ Ｂ 　ＡのためにＢ（時間・金・労力）を割く

Could you spare me a few minutes?　少し時間を割いていただけないでしょうか。

 

⑦　 take Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢ（時間・労力）がかかる

It took him courage to do it.　彼がそれをするには勇気が必要だった。

⑧　wish Ａ Ｂ※ 　ＡのＢを願う　祈る

I wish you good luck.　あなたのご幸福をお祈りします。

They forgave him his offences.　彼らは彼の罪を許した。

 

 

8.1.3　　 第３文型に書き換えられない動詞

 

① cost Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢ（金）を費やさせる／ＡにＢ（犠牲）を払わせる

This clock cost me 10,000 yen.　この置時計は１万円だった。

Drunken driving cost him his life.　酔っ払い運転で彼は生命を失った。

 

② save Ａ Ｂ 　ＡにＢを節約させる

Your help saved me a lot of work.　

あなたが手を貸してくれたのでとても手間が省けました。

If you telephone, it will save you writing a letter.  電話をかければ手紙を書かないで済む.

 

 

8.1.4　　 その他の動詞

① sing Ａ Ｂ（Ｂ to[for] Ａ）　ＡにＢを歌ってあげる

He sang us a beautiful song.　彼は私たちに美しい歌を歌ってくれた。

= He sang a beautiful song to[for] us.

 

② ask Ａ Ｂ（Ｂ of Ａ）※ 　　ＡにＢを頼む

He asked me a favor.　彼は私に頼み事をした。

= He asked a favor of me.

8.2.1　　 単文にすると〔that～〕が〔of～〕になる動詞

① remind Ａ that～※ 　Ａに～を気付かせる　思い出させる

Don‘t forget to remind him that our meeting has been postponed.

会議が延期されたことを忘れずに彼に念を押しておいてください。

 

② warn Ａ that～※ 　Ａに～を警告する

I warned him that too much wine would make him ill.

ワインの飲みすぎが彼を病気にすると彼に注意した。

 

③ convince Ａ that～※ 　Ａに～を確信させる

I convinced him that she is guilty.　私は彼に彼女の有罪を確信させた。　

 

④ assure Ａ that～ 　Ａに～を確信させる　保証する

I assure you that she is sincere.　彼女が誠実なことを保証します。

I assure you that she will come.　彼女はきっと来ますよ。

 

⑤ inform Ａ that～ 　Ａに～を知らせる

He informed me that she had died.　彼は彼女の死を知らせてくれた。

 

⑥ notify Ａ that～ 　Ａに～を知らせる

Our boss notified us that there would be a meeting at 5 p.m.

上司は午後５時に会議があることを我々に知らせた。

8.2.2　　 その他の動詞

instruct Ａ that～/on~/to 不定詞 　Ａに～を伝える　教える

She instructed me that her father was upstairs.　[堅]

彼女は父が２階にいると私に教えてくれた。

Please instruct me on what I should do.

あなたは私がすべきことを指示してください。 

I will instruct them to send that contract form.

彼らにその契約書を送るよう指示します。

8.3　　 第４文型になりそうでならない動詞: to人+that/about/for/疑問詞のある句・節 

 

explain～ to A　 Ａに～を説明する

mention～ to A　 Ａに～を言う［言及する］

say～ to A　 Ａに～を言う

introduce～ to A　 Ａに～を紹介する

complain to A about[of]～, that～ ～についてＡに不平を言う

suggest to A that～　 ～をＡに提案する

propose to A that~               ～をＡに提案する

apologize to A for～　 Ａに～のことで謝る

 

 

I explained to her that I was sick yesterday.　 彼女に昨日具合が悪かったことを説明した。

They mentioned to her that they were coming now.　彼らは彼女に今から来ると言った

He said to me that he will be a little late.　 彼は私に少し遅くなると言った。

John introduced me to her.　 ジョンは私に彼女を紹介した。

I complained to him about the mess in the room.　

彼に部屋が散らかっているとクレームを言った。

She suggested to them that they bring their jackets.　

彼女は彼らに上着を持っていくことを提案した。

She apologized to her for the misunderstanding.　 彼女にすれ違いについて謝った。
