It’s no good, is it? それはまったく良くないよね。

否定の否定付加疑問文は相手に対して攻撃や皮肉を示す
You don’t like my cooking, don’t you? あなたは私の料理が嫌なんでしょ。

(It’s a) Nice day, isn’t it? いい天気じゃない。
(She was) Talking to my husband, was she? 彼女私の亭主と話してなかった。
Your mother (is) at home, is she? あなたのお母さん家にいるでしょ。
John (will) be here tomorrow, will he? ジョンは明日ここにいるでしょ。
6.10 付加疑問の意味と抑揚
確認や同意を求める時（相手の答に確信しているとき）：下降調⇘
It’s a beautiful day, isn’t it? ⇘ 今日は好い天気ですね。
相手に賛同・質問（相手の答が不確かの時）：上昇調⇗
The meeting’s at four o’clock, isn’t it? ⇗ 会は４時ですよね。

‘I’m getting married.’ ‘You’re getting married?’
「私結婚するんです。」「あなた結婚するんですって？」
6.12 短い問い 聞き手が話し手に興味や注意を払っていることを示すために使う
’It was a terrible party.’ ‘Was it?’ ‘Yes…’
「ひどいバーティーだったよ。」「そうだったの。」「はい・･」
’We had a lovely holiday.’ ‘Did you?’ ‘Yes, we went…’ 「すばらしい休暇だったよ。」「そうなの。」
’I’ve got a headache.’ ‘Have you, dear? I’ll get you an aspirin.’
