現在の状況から考えられる未来の予測
If she gets the right grades, she’ll go to university.
もし彼女が適切な点が取れたら、大学に行くでしょう。
That’ll be Robert at the door. ドアのところにいるのはロバートでしょう。
5.2 現在の傾向・習性 「よく～する」
She will often call me when I am out. 彼女はよく私が外出しているとき電話をよこす。
He will often sit up late / stay up late. 彼はよく夜更かしをする。
She'll sit talking to herself for hours. 彼女は、何時間も座って、独り言を言う癖がある。
Accidents will happen. 事故はどうしても起こるものだ。
Boys will be boys. 男の子は男の子。〈多少のいたずらは仕方がない） [慣用]
A drowning man will catch at a straw. 溺れる者はわらをもつかむ。 [慣用]
If something breaks down and you kick it, it will often start working again.
ある物が壊れたとき、それを蹴ると、再び動き出すことがよくある。
Sulfuric acid will dissolve most metals. 硫黄酸は大抵の金属を溶かすものだ。
参考：文の中のwillを強く発音すると、人の特徴的な振舞い、態度を非難していることを意味する。

The door will not open. そのドアはどうしても開かない。
'Give me a kiss.' 'No, I won't.' 「キスしてくれ。」「絶対に嫌よ。」
The car won't start. 車のエンジンがどうしてもかからない。

He will leave that door open every time he goes through!
彼は通るたびにあのドアを開けっぱなしにする！

'There's the (door)bell.' 'I'll go.' 「ドアのチャイムが鳴っているよ。」「私が出るわ。」
'Can somebody help me?' 'I will.' 「誰か手伝ってくれない？」「私がするわ。」
I’ll carry that for you. 私もってあげますよ。
I won’t lend him any money. Why should I?
彼に、まったくお金貸さないよ。なぜしなきゃいけないのさ。
I will do my best to pass the entrance examination.
入学試験に合格するために最善を尽くします。
I really will stop smoking. 私は本当に禁煙するぞ！
5.6 依頼、勧誘「Will you・・・？」の形
Will you send me the bill, please? 請求書を私に送ってくれませんか？
Come this way, will you? = This way, please. こちらへどうぞ。
参考：一般に命令文の後ろのwill you/won't you? は依頼、勧誘の意でpleaseのかわりに使われる。
Won't you have some more wine? ワインをもう少しお飲みになりませんか？
参考：Won't you …？の方がWill you …？より「勧誘」の度合いが強い。フォーマル
Will you have some more potatoes? もう少しジャガイモを食べませんか？
What will you drink? 何を飲みますか？
Will someone please help me with my English? 誰か、どうぞ私の英語の勉強を手伝って下さい。
注意：Will you? で、～するつもりですか、と表すこともできる。
Will you go to the bank? 銀行へ行くつもりですか？
5.7 命令、指示
You will do as I tell you. 私の言う通りにやりなさい。
My secretary will show you the way. 私の秘書がご案内します。
Will you sit down and just be quiet? 座っていて静かにしてくれない！？
5.8 丁寧な尋ね方 Will you be～ing?
Will you be～ing?は、「～している[～する]ことになりますか」という意味であり、相手の意図を詮索することなく予定を聞き、丁寧な言い方になる。Will you～?だと「～してくれませんか」というぶっきらぼうな依頼にもなるので、通常は避ける。
Will you be coming to my birthday party tonight?
今晩の私の誕生パーティーにいらっしゃいますか。
Will you be staying tomorrow evening?
明日の夜は、お泊まりになりますか？
