12. 比較・比例を表す従属接続詞
12.1 as 「～につれて、～にしたがって」（比例）
12.2 A is to B as C is to D =A is to B what C is to D （whatは関係代名詞）
12.3 than 比較級の後に用いて、「～よりも」→比較参照
12.4 as～as… 「…のように～」→比較参照
12.5 the 比較級～, the 比較級… ～すればするほど、ますます… 比較参照

AのBに対する割合はCのDに対する割合と同じである
3 is to 4 as 6 is to 8. ３対４は６対８に等しい。
12.3 than 比較級の後に用いて、「～よりも」→比較参照
A whale is no more fish than a horse is. 馬が魚でないのと同様、鯨も魚ではない。
12.4 as～as… 「…のように～」→比較参照
Run away as fast as you can. できるだけ速く逃げなさい。
12.5 the 比較級～, the 比較級… ～すればするほど、ますます… 比較参照
最初の節が従属節、後の節が主節となることに注意せよ。
最初のtheは関係副詞、２つ目のtheは指示副詞。
The older we grow, the more deeply we think. 我々は年を取るにつれて、ますます深く考える。
= We think more deeply, as we grow.
