5.1.1 ふつうの命令文→「let＋目的語＋be＋過去分詞」

Don’t open the door.  ドアをあけるな。

⇒Don’t let the door be opened.

5.1.2 Let～形の命令文

Let scientists discuss this issue more thoroughly.

科学者にこの問題をもっと徹底的に論じさせなさい。

⇒Let this issue be discussed more thoroughly by scientists.

5.2 不定詞・分詞・動名詞の受動態

5.2.1 不定詞

I want this room (to be) swept.私はこの部屋を掃いてもらいたい。

I don’t like to be treated like that.　そんな風な待遇をしてもらいたくない。

He seems to be liked by her.彼は彼女に気にいられているようだ。

Be careful not to be made fun of.　馬鹿にされないように気をつけろ。

注：不定詞の能動態で受動の意味を表す場合

You are to blame (= to be blamed).僕じゃなくて君のせいだ。

5.2.2 分詞

This having been done, he left home.これがなされたので、彼は家に帰った。

I heard my name called.私は名前が呼ばれるのを聞いた。

This is a letter written by Soseki.これは漱石によって書かれた手紙です。

She was sitting with her legs crossed.  彼女は足を組んで座っていた。

5.2.3 動名詞

Nobody likes being scolded in front of others. だれも他人の面前でしかられるのは好きでない。

He is proud of having been awarded a Nobel Prize.

彼はノーベル賞を受賞したことに誇りを持っている。

注：動名詞の能動態で受動の意味を表す場合

This shirt needs pressing.  このシャツはアイロンの必要がある。

= 不定詞で表すと　This shirt needs to be pressed.　

5.3 従属節の主語を文の主語にした受動態

5.3.1 動詞がbelieve, say, think, consider, suppose, etc

They say that he is sick. 彼は病気だそうだ。

It is said that he is sick.　itは形式主語でthat以下が真主語(by themが省略)

↓単文化

He is said to be sick.  彼は病気だと言われている。

5.3.2 動詞がseem, appear, happen, etc.

It seems that he was implicated in the bribery scandal. 彼は汚職事件に関わっていたようだ。

↓単文化

He seems to have been implicated in the bribery scandal.

5.4 行為者がby以外の前置詞で示される場合

5.4.1 at（驚く）型

I was surprised at the news. その知らせを聞いて驚いた。

類型:

be astonished at, be frightened at, be alarmed at, be amazed at 驚く 

be shocked at ショックを受ける

5.4.2 with, at （快・不快）型

with＋人・物

be pleased with her husband  彼女の亭主に満足している

be delighted with her birthday present彼女の誕生日プレゼントに満足する

My teacher was content with my answer. 先生は私の答えに満足した。　

類型：

be satisfied with  ～に満足している  be gratified with～に感謝している

at＋事柄

be pleased at her coming  彼女の到来を喜ぶ

be delighted at receiving so many fan letters  たくさんのファンレターをもらってうれしい

類型:  

be amused at 面白がる　, be displeased at　不満である　, be vexed at苛立つ

be offended at　感情を害する, 　be disgusted at　むかつく

5.4.3 with, at, by （感情）型

with＋同情

be moved ( affected, touched ) with sympathy 同情心を掻き立てられる

at＋光景・話

be moved ( affected, touched ) at the sight その光景を見て感動する

by＋言葉・嘆願

be moved  ( affected, touched )by her words  彼女の言葉に感動する

5.4.4 for, at （悲しみ・憂い）型

for＋人

be concerned for her彼女のことが気がかり

at＋事柄

be concerned at her failure彼女の失敗が気がかり

5.4.5 be known３用法　

be known to 人人に知られている

His name is fairly well known to us.彼の名前はかなり知られています。

be known by 基準　　（判断の基準）で分かる

A man is known by the company he keeps.人の性格はその付き合う仲間によってわかる。

be known for 事(事)で知られている、有名だ

Penang is known for beautiful sunsets. 　ペナンは美しい日没で有名だ。

類型：be noted for  で有名である　be qualified for 　～の資格がある

5.4.6 be made３用法

be made of 材料　　（材料）で作られている

This plate is made of plastic.この皿はプラスチィックで出来ている。

類型：be composed of  ～で成り立つ　be made up of  ～成る　

be made from 原料　（原料）で作られている

Cheese is made from milk.  チーズは牛乳で出来ている。

be made into 製品　　～は（材料・原料）は（製品）に作り変えられる

Grapes are made into wine. ぶどうはワインに作り変えられる。 

5.4.7 be tired２用法

be tired of 事　　（事）に飽きる

I am tired of studying. 私は勉強に飽きた。

類型：

be tired from [with] 事　（事）に疲れる

I am tired from [with] walking. 歩くことに疲れている。

類型：be worn out  疲れ果てるbe exhausted疲れ果てる

5.4.8 その他

They are interested in English.  彼らは英語に興味を持っている。

He was absorbed in his study.彼は研究に没頭している。

I am engaged in this research.私はこの研究に従事している。

He was killed in World War 2.彼は第二次世界大戦で死んだ。

We were seized with panic.  私たちはパニックに襲われた。　

I am acquainted with the mayor. 私は市長と知り合いだ。

Mt. Fuji is covered with snow. 富士山は雪で覆われている。

This cup is filled with water.  このコップは水で一杯だ。

The bus was terribly crowded with people.  バスは人でひどく込んでいた。

I was sandwiched between two fat women. 私は２人の太った女性に挟まれた。

I was reminded of my school days at the sight of you.  あなたを見て学校時代を思い出した。

He is accustomed [used] to working at night.彼は夜働くのに慣れている。

I was caught in a shower on the way home.私は家路の途中でにわか雨に襲われた。
